Kaohsiung Film Archive is the only institute dedicated to film culture in the south of Taiwan. The building had previously been abandoned, and was reconverted into the film archives. The new design utilizes timber and glass and is designed to display changes in light and shadow. The display cabinets exhibit film industry items and artifacts, whilst the re-purposing of the old building has transformed it into a ‘light’ space, seamlessly combining technology and images. The area also contains an outdoor film screen beside the Love River, a showroom, a dedicated film library, individual viewing rooms, a public library where people can borrow books and enjoy films, and also has space for groups.

Kaohsiung Film Archive is also dedicated to the promotion of Taiwanese film culture and does much to support the local film and television industries. In particular, it is an important platform for training local talent.
